내 글줄의 뒷면엔 늘 쩔어주는 그 사투리가 산다

화순 송석천 여울마다 "어째야쓰까" 터지던

명석한 그녀의 말대꾸가 이끼처럼 박혀 있어

부산 놈의 묵직한 붓끝은 자꾸만 길을 잃는다

 

꽃순이의 안광이 등 뒤에서 서늘하게 지켜보고

양 씨 집안 문중의 담장은 수영강보다 깊은데

차마 부르지 못한 이름 '숙(淑)'을 종이 뒤에 숨기고

나는 오늘도 난숙(爛熟)한 철학인 양 허허 웃는다

 

남의 연서는 그리도 달콤하게 잘도 썼으면서

정작 내 가슴 속 정임(正荏)은 한 자도 못 적는 멍청이

그래, 내 머리 못 깎는 이 서툰 안광이야말로

살다 보니 알게 된, 사랑의 가장 순(順)한 묘미이어라

Behind the lines of my writing, that raw dialect always breathes.
Deep in the rapids of Songseokcheon in Hwasun,
Her clever retorts—"Whatever shall we do?"—burst forth,
Embedded like moss, making this Busan man's heavy brush tip lose its way.

The sharp gaze of ‘Kkot-sun’ watches coolly from behind my back,
And the walls of the Yang clan’s household run deeper than the Suyeong River.
Hiding the name ‘Suk (淑)’—which I never dared to call—behind the paper,
I merely laugh, feigning a ripe and mellow philosophy today.

How cleverly I wrote those sweet love letters for others,
Yet I am a fool who cannot write a single word for the ‘Jeong-im (正荏)’ in my heart.
Yes, this clumsy gaze—unable to see my own flaws—
Is the gentlest, truest zest of love I have come to know through life.
